1986 - 1990
Daniel reached Woodwind final of BBC Young Musician of the Year and has gone on to be a very well respected orchestral musician.
After leaving Hymers, Daniel studied music at Clare College, Cambridge, after which he decided to pursue a career in music as a bassoonist. He completed postgraduate courses at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the Hochschule fűr Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Daniel was appointed co-principal bassoon with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Bremen and was also principal bassoon with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra from 1999-2003. He has given masterclasses at the Royal Northern College of Music and Trinity College of Music in addition to appearing as guest principal bassoon with various orchestras and chamber ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and London Winds.
Daniel is currently principal bassoonist with the London Symphony Orchestra (appointed in 2013) and Professor of Bassoon at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He can be heard on the soundtracks of Harry Potter, Jason Bourne and the Marvel Captain America films, as well as plenty more.
