We were delighted to welcome back Suhail Patel, OH 2001-05 who recently spoke to our Business Studies and Economics students.  He now works at UBS as a Derivatives Trader. Having left Hymers in 2005, he hasn't been back since but is hoping for an in-person visit in the coming months when he visits the UK. 

Suhail didn't do an Economics Degree after leaving Hymers College with A levels in Maths, Physics and French. He actually completed an Aeronautical degree at Imperial College London, as all he ever wanted to be was a pilot. It was only after two years at university that he looked at moving in to the finance world. He then completed a Summer Intern at JP Morgan and started his career with them. He is now a Derivatives Trader for UBS in Hong Kong.

He shared with the students the importance of the OH network and how much it can help with their careers, the significance of communication skills for the workplace, start networking now.

Suhail explained to the students about his role on the trading floor and a brief overview of the role involved and skill sets required. He answered some great questions about the use of AI on the trading floor and his comparison to living and working in London and Asia, as well as offering to connect with our students, to help them with their onward journey to University and beyond.
