Áine McKenzie (née Fuller), OH 1999-2009 studied at Hymers College with her older brother, Euan, OH 1997-2007.  At the end of 2024, she returned, via Teams, to speak to the school's Geography Society, sharing her journey from Hymers College to gaining a Masters at university and her career working at Drax.

Having studied Geography, Biology and French for A Levels, she furthered her education at Royal Holloway University of London, gaining a BSc in Geography, followed by an MSc in Sustainability and Management.  Áine then interned in London for The Prince’s Countryside Fund and also the Sustainable Business Index, before she returned home to Hull where she gained a temp job at a Digital Marketing agency.  She then started at Drax in 2014 as an HR Assistant and is now an HR Business Partner based at Drax Power Station.

During her presentation, she explained about Drax's mission, 'enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future' and how they were fulfilling it, explaining the advantages of technology.

Thank you, Áine, for speaking to our students.
