Nick's Talk to the Geography Society

Nick Williams, OH 1985-95, spoke to the Sixth Form students

Nick Williams (OH 1985-95) attended Hymers College, studying in the Junior School from the age of 9, until completing his A-levels in 1995. During his time in the Senior School, he was also in the same year as our Development Manager Emily Pennack (OH 1989-95).

Nick is now a Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Leeds, which he joined in 2015.  His research mainly focuses on entrepreneurship and economic development, and he has particular interests in transition and post-conflict economies, as well as enterprise policy.  His research on post-conflict economies has had wide impacts on policy and society, particularly through his work in the Balkans.

He spoke to the students virtually, and seeing them sat in his old Geography Room, B6 brought back many memories for him.

Nick also hears news of the school via his little sister, Lizzie Picton (née Williams), OH 1991-2001, who returned to the school as the Welfare Nurse in 2021.

Thank you, Nick, for returning (virtually) to the school to support our Geography students.
