We recently welcomed back to school Daniel Matthews, OH 1994-2003. He spoke to our students about his career since leaving Hymers followed by his degree at Manchester University.

Daniel is now the Senior Portfolio Investment Manager at Aegon. Dan shared his experiences working as a Multi-Asset portfolio manager and he is currently on the portfolio management team for several Aegon fund ranges, including the Multi-Asset and Risk Managed ranges. He shared his experiences as a hedge fund allocator/fund of fund portfolio manager, along with what a typical day at work might involve.  He also shared the impact of Covid, which at that time resulted in redundancy from his previous job.

The students were delighted to hear from him and Daniel was pleased to see Mr McTeare who taught him during his time at Hymers. Daniel was part of the Young Enterprise (YE) team when he was studying at school and has fond memories of his classroom days. His YE team (Ice Cubed) made it through to the national finals.
