Paul Brione, OH 1989-99, spoke to our Business and Economics Students recently about his career since leaving Hymers College. Paul left Hymers and went to Cambridge to study Economics, before continuing his studies with a Masters in International Relations at Oxford. Paul now works at the Bank of England as Head Of Authorisations Division. He spent many years before his career in the bank in a variety of roles, including seconded to parliament working as Andrew Bailey's Private Secretary.
Paul shared his experiences of working with graduates and what skills and experience he would look for in a younger person looking to start their career. Paul also spoke about the Bank of England's apprenticeship scheme and the variety of options available to those who may wish to not take the University route.
We were extremely grateful for Paul's time chatting with our students and it was great to hear that his love of Economics started at Hymers. Paul is still in good contact with fellow classmate, Dan Abrahams, OH 1989-99, who was our guest speaker at our recent speech day. They shared a love of A-level economics at Hymers.
