James' Talk to the Engineering Society

James Munro (OH 1994-2002) spoke to our aspiring engineers

We recently welcomed James Munro, OH 1994-2002, back to the school via Zoom.  He made time to speak to our sixth-form students who are interested in a career in Engineering.

After leaving Hymers College, James spent some time overseas teaching English in Vietnam, before returning to the UK to study Biology at the University of York.  After 3 years of completing a Bachelor of Science, he later returned to Hull, where he completed a Master of Science degree in Environmental Technology at the University of Hull.

James now works for Renantis (formerly Falck Renewables), a developer that builds and operates wind and solar plants across Europe and North and South America.  He previously worked as a project manager for Modern Energy Management, an engineering consultancy firm performing Owner's Engineer and Owner's Representative roles, assisting clients to develop, construct, and operate renewable energy projects, such as wind and solar.

He has also worked as a Project Manager on large-scale Lender's and Owner’s engineer projects and has site experience erecting over 450MW of wind power. James has also project managed various other renewable technology projects including feasibility studies, environmental statements (EIAs), wind and solar developments, and GIS-based analysis.

In addition, James has developed a new metal tooling business at Gurit. Based in Shanghai, He was responsible for the product development and the growth and sales of Gurit's wind turbine transportation and erection tools.

Thank you, James, for talking to our students.
