We were delighted to welcome back Amanda Coale née Taylor, OH 1989-91, back to school to share her journey since leaving Hymers College. Amanda was the third generation of her family to join after her Dad and Grandad had been at Hymers.
She now works as a Legal Director at KPMG and was able to share her route with our sixth form students who are considering a career in Law. Amanda shared a really valuable insight into recruiting as a recent graduate and the soft skills that she looks for when recruiting. She emphasised the need for work experience, networking, and reaching out to connections for support in finding training contracts.
She was also able to share details of the KPMG apprenticeship scheme which is a 6-year apprenticeship role after A Levels instead of a route into a law degree or a law conversion course.
Amanda has worked within a C-suite role, ran her own business, worked in private practice, had a training contract with Andersons, and worked for a City Law firm; her experience was highly valuable to those who are considering their options.
Great to have you back with us, Amanda. Thank you so much for your time and support to our next generation of lawyers!
