Sasha's Talk to the Classics Society

Sasha Ford, OH 1994-2001, spoke about her career since leaving Hymers

Sasha studied at Hymers College in the Senior School, completing her A-Levels before moving to University of Durham to study Classics and Ancient History,

She then began her career in publishing straight out of university, working for the Australian Consolidated Press in Sydney and then London. She quickly moved over into B2B publishing, taking on a role as Head of Events for Sport Business Group, developing conferences for the heads of professional sports organisations and teams across the world. This led to a move up to the West Midlands, to take on a more streamlined role, working in-house at Aston Villa FC, a diverse, challenging, and incredibly fun role.

She now lives in Shrewsbury, with her husband, Rob, and two children, Eva and Tom. When she isn't working or parenting, she still loves the performing arts: singing, dancing, and acting whenever she can. A passion she developed at Hymers and something that still brings joy now.

When we began to grow our family I decided to step away at from the bright lights of the Premiership and after a short break parenting, I set up my own business. As a trained Yoga and Pilates therapist I now enjoy working with people to improve their mobility, and quality of life, following accidents, joint replacements, severe illness or brain injury. I also established, The Shropshire Retreat, a retreat venue in the Shropshire hills, offering Yoga, Meditation and Wellness breaks through the year.

Thank you, Sasha. We appreciate you giving up your time to speak to the students.
