Dominic's Sixth Form Talk

Dominic Voase, OH 2011-13, spoke to the Business and Economics Society students about his career since leaving Hymers

We were delighted to welcome Dom Voase OH 2011-13 back to speak to our Year 12 and 13 students, in the Business and Economics Society, about his career since leaving Hymers and his journey to working as a financial planner.

Dom gave an interactive session with our students about the life skills they need and what roles University and Hymers had on his career choices to date.  Dom now runs his own successful wealth management company and is based in Canterbury. We spoke to Dom who has been very busy with his recent wedding and house renovations and the students were hugely appreciative of the time he gave.

Dom studied at Nottingham graduating with a 1st class BSC in Economics and started his career in technology infrastructure and transitioned to Financial Planning in 2017. Dom shared some hugely valuable insight into his time at University and course choices. He studied abroad as part of his course and made friends and a network for life from his time in Malaysia.

Dom is a huge advocate for degree apprenticeship opportunities in the financial sector and encouraged students to consider this, should University not be their immediate choice.

Dom's final words were that if you do what you love, you will be interested in it, do well, and then it will open lots of doors. As the first person in Dom's family to study A Levels and go on to University, Dom is hugely thankful for his education at Hymers and his Economics lessons in B1 with Mr Gravelle, opening his mind to an Economics degree.

Thanks, Dom for your time. It was great to have you with us.
