Lorna's Talk to Engineering Society

Lorna Beevers, OH 2010-18 spoke to the students via Zoom

Lorna Beevers studied at Hymers College from 2010 until 2018 and recently returned, via Zoom, to talk to our students who are hoping to study engineering as a career. She is now a Degree Apprentice at BAE Systems as she studies for a Bachelor of Engineering.

While talking to the students, she was able to advise them on apprenticeship opportunities and to consider the benefits and drawbacks when compared to university.  She explained why she chose to do an apprenticeship and the route that she took, and also about post-degree apprenticeship opportunities and the experience gained throughout.

I study an aerospace engineering degree apprenticeship with BAE systems and my degree is delivered through Blackpool and the Fylde College.

I was very happy to speak with the society, they were a lovely group.

Thank you, Lorna, for giving the students invaluable insight into engineering apprenticeships.
