Welcome back to school!
Welcome back to school!

As part of our annual Careers Convention on 13 March 2025, we held a question and answer session featuring four Old Hymerians who had left the School in more recent years. Aimed at educating families about the potential of degree apprenticeships, the evening provided a platform for attendees to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of how this career pathway blends higher education with valuable work experience. The session featured discussions on the variety of industries offering degree apprenticeships, the qualifications required, and the long-term career benefits that come with combining education and hands-on professional development.

I always love coming back to Hymers as it shaped me to who I am today. I want to be able to give back by sharing my experience and show how Hymers guided me on my apprenticeship path. The careers convention is a great opportunity to show what is possible for the students. Additionally, it's always nice to catch up with students and my own teachers too.

Olivia Murphy OH 2014-24

I really enjoyed returning to school for the careers evening as it reminded me of the many happy years spent at Hymers. It was good to catch up with members of staff and to answer questions from pupils who may be considering a degree apprenticeship.

The session also addressed many questions from parents about the balance between work and academic commitments. The discussion provided clarity on how employers and universities collaborate to ensure that apprentices have the support they need to succeed in both areas. Our annual Careers Convention continues to be an essential resource for students and their families, offering valuable insights into the broad spectrum of career options available.

Thank you to all of the businesses and former students that supported our current student body.
