President of The Old Hymerians Association 2024

Message from new President, Duncan Hider, OH 1983-93

OH News

I’d like to start by thanking last year's President Will Hairsine, OH 1992-97 for his dedication alongside the team to the role last year, and for handing over a vibrant OHA.

Here I am then, approaching my half century and school a distant memory. Am I excited? Of course I am! What’s not to love about sharing a year with the team at Hymers, reminding everyone how fortunate we all are to be part of this family. In truth though, it doesn’t really seem like a distant memory. I have lots of friendships still from school, frequently sharing memories together. My own children are also here now so I get to enjoy supporting them with their varied activities at this incredible location.

It’s truly a privilege to be asked to be part of the team, and I look forward to meeting as many Old Hymerians and teachers, past and present, as possible at various events throughout the year. We are all ultimately here to support each other, and ensure as many future generations as possible benefit from what Hymers has to offer. Life can be challenging sometimes but we want to be as inclusive as possible and appeal and support as many Hymerians as possible. Do let us know if you’ve any ideas, suggestions or constructive feedback as to how we can make the year even better.

Please support the OHA and spread the world to as many of your friends as possible and do come to as many of the events as you can throughout the year. The team work hard to organise these, for you.. the Old Hymerian community.
