We recently heard from Jack Wildsmith, OH 1998-2008, who has received a place for next year's London Marathon, to be held on 27 April 2025.

He has been inpsired to run the marathon on behalf of his dad, Peter Wildsmith, OH 1958-69, who is living with Alzheimer's after being diagnosed with the disease in 2023.  After considering what he can do to raise awareness and funds for this terrible disease, Jack decided it should relate to something that his dad has always loved, and something that he also loved ...sport!

Dad attended Hymers from 1958-1969 and 30 years later, I attended from 1998-2008.  Dad was also a governor at Hymers College for over 30 years (1987-2021) and oversaw projects such as the swimming pool, Junior School and four headmasters!

He was always on touchlines, boundaries and sidelines supporting me during my time at Hymers and was one of the main reasons why I fell in love with sport; he was such a support to me in my early playing days.

He absolutely loves attending the OH Dinner - he was even the ticket seller for many years; back in the days of paper tickets and cheques!  And he enjoys reminiscing with his rugby mates from days gone by. Notably, when they won the Yorkshire Shield with Old Hymerians Rugby Club, now known as Hull RUFC, where dad captained the side from number 8.

Please visit my JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/page/jackwildsmith-aruk for more information on Dad's diagnosis with Alzheimer's and details of how to donate.

Thank you very much in anticipation; I really do appreciate it.
