We were delighted to hear from Tom Jeffers, OH 2012-21, who is competing in the Great North Run this year (2024), for a very worthwhile charity.
I will be running in aid of Cancer Research UK, with it touching my life and so many others across the globe. I am running with a couple other boys who I have been friends with for my whole 10 years at Hymers (Joseph Stead, OH 2011-21 and Luke Carr, OH 2011-21).
I made many great memories at Hymers through the rugby pitch, which I shared with peers across my whole decade at the school, forming lifelong friendships. Particular mentions must be made to a few very influential coaches in Dr Smith, Mr Gandy, as well as Mr Skirving.
Our school year group was a very friendly and cohesive one with friendships extending into my adulthood.
If you would like to sponsor Tom in his challenge, please visit his Great North Run fundraising page.
