Hattie Roberts, OH 2014-21, is participating in the Great North Run 2024 in September, to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action.  In April 2017, when Hattie was only 14 years old and in Year 9, she sadly lost her mum to Ovarian cancer.

Hattie continued her studies after leaving Hymers College and gaining her A Levels and went to Newcastle University to study Quantity Surveying.

I will be running with a girl who I made friends with on my third year (placement year), before I return to university for my fourth year in September.  Joe Stead (OH 2011-21 ) and Tom Jeffers (OH 2012-21) will also be running, so we will definitely run as much as we can together!

I have numerous great memories from my time at Hymers College!  I remember having such a lovely year group, and I am so fortunate to be able to say we are all still such good friends.  The friends I have made at Hymers will be friends for life and I’m grateful to have shared such lovely times at school with them.

One of my fondest memory of school was the sport. I was captain of the 1st team netball in Year 13, along with Lucy De Kok (OH 2011-21) in my year. I thoroughly enjoyed how sport allowed you to make friends and let off steam outside of the classroom.

I wish  that I could go back!
