We love to hear stories of how Old Hymerians are getting on after leaving Hymers College, and none more so than when they have graduated from Further Education. Below is a roundup of the recent successes that we have heard of, but please note, that we will continue to add to this news article as we hear of more stories throughout the year:

Olivia Clarke, OH 2009-16
I have just completed a BVSc Veterinary Science: Accelerated Graduate Entry at the University of Bristol, and gained a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Merit. I am now preparing to move back home to Hull to be a Small Animal GP at Kingston Veterinary Group from September.
Prior to this, I completed a Bachelors in Biology at University of Hull graduating in 2020 with a 1st. I think it’s really important to let the next generation of students know that everyone’s timeline is individual to them; enjoy the journey as much as the end result!
Amelia Simmons, OH 2012-21
I studied Law at the University of Bristol, achieving a 2:1 in my degree. I will be moving to London to complete the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) before starting my training contract at Bristows LLP, a commercial law firm particularly known for its intellectual property work.
Grace Tindle, OH 2011-21
I studied BA English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of Leeds and gained a 1st. I’m now a Communications Assistant at Yorkshire Cancer Research but in the future I would love to work in publishing.
Adithya Venkat, OH 2010-20
I graduated with a first class MSci degree in Natural Sciences via Chemistry from University of Cambridge. The learning environment at Hymers College has always been exciting and challenging, with emphasis on participation and problem solving right from an early age. I’d like to thank the Science and Mathematics departments especially for the many enriching opportunities to extend my learning and for the incredible support throughout my time at school.
Georgina Walker, OH 2007-17
I have graduated from Newcastle University, having gained a Distinction in Master of Architecture (MArch).
I am delighted to share that I have returned to work at Hodson Architects Ltd. Moving forward I will be applying to study Architectural Practice and Management Postgraduate Diploma (RIBA/ARB Part 3) as part of the next step in the process of becoming a fully qualified Architect.
Once I have completed my Part 3, I hope to look at completing a second masters in Urban Design and working towards becoming a Conservation Architect.
