It was an absolute pleasure to welcome back Rob Newman, OH 1987-94 and his wife Amber in recent weeks on their whistle-stop tour from the States to Yorkshire. Rob is now living in Blakeslee, Pennsylvania and is a Boeing 787 First Officer at United Airlines. Rob is now flying around the world with United Airlines and alongside this, he is finding the time to study for a second Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at Southern New Hampshire University.
Rob hadn't been back to school since 1994 and shared some tales and memories of his time here. He enjoyed his tour of the school and memories of his classrooms, drama competitions helping Mr Wooldridge with the lighting and stage and fun in the classrooms with his peers. Rob is still in good contact with friends from his time here, namely Michael Gale OH 1985-94, who many of you will remember as our organist in assembly in the early 1990's. Rob also played the trombone here and enjoyed his time in the choir with Mr O Byrne. He has memories of one teacher telling him he wouldn't get a job "looking out the window all day" However, Rob appears to have done just that! Rob believes that Hymers has made him the person he is today.
Thanks, Rob. It was great to see you, come again soon and give us a wave if you ever fly past!
