Olivia Bailey is pictured here at 10, Downing Street receiving her police bravery award for work. She has been nominated for a bravery award for tackling a meat-cleaver-wielding man who brought fear and chaos to Hull city centre three years ago. Ahmad Mohammed rampaged through the city with a weapon, petrol and lighter, in a horrifying incident that saw members of the public running in fear of their lives. He set fire to the Santander bank doorway and poured petrol in a second bank when brave officers ran to tackle him. Olivia is one of the officers who have now been recognised for their actions after being nominated for The National Police Bravery Awards.
Humberside Police Federation Chair Lee Sims said: “These officers acted in the finest traditions of British policing. They put their lives on the line to protect members of the public who were caught up in a horrifying incident.
“Robert, Joe, Amy, Olivia and Neil – and our magnificent seven firearms colleagues – worked incredibly courageously and calmly to not only protect the members of the public who would have been petrified but to also bring this offender in safely.
“In nominating these 12 officers, we wanted to show that, while each played a different role in tackling this dangerous individual, they worked together as a team and each one played their part in bringing this incident to its conclusion.”
