While sorting through The Development Office's Archives, we came across a video tape of "A Christmas Carol", performed in November 1997. The tape has since been converted and can be viewed below.
A search of our Digital Archives also enabled us to find a review of the play in The Hymerian 1997-1998, written by then Head of Drama, Richard Grayson. He described the play as "... a quality entertainment from cast and crew and they all deserve hearty congratulations." He gave special praise to former English Teacher, Anne Powell.
Anne Powell's masterly (mistressly?) adaptation of Dickens’ story eschewed sentimentality and gave his message a contemporary relevance
Within the review a number of former students were mentioned as being part of the cast and crew, including Oliver Wilson, Lee Jones, Tom Biggs, Kishore Nayar, Emma Dunn, Samik Datta, Tom Branton, Jessica Ryan, Gemma Robertson, Chris May and Chris Daynes.
We appreciate though that the quality of the video is of its time but we hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane.
