Life After Hymers |
We were delighted to hear from our New Zealand alumni, who regularly get together to reminisce about their time at Hymers College. Three years ago, Kevin Gaunt and Peter Carr discovered they lived within 15 minutes of each other, when Peter recognised Kevin's name on an alumni list, and realised he served as a Justice of the Peace with Kevin's wife.
At the start of February (2025), the annual Cambridge (NZ) OH members elected to come together for their Annual General Meeting and social gathering. There was a 100 per cent attendance (both of us) plus our wives. Held at the home of Kevin Gaunt (OH 1960-65) supported by Peter Carr (OH 1949-57).
The somewhat casual dress indicates the informal nature of the afternoon meeting - plus the fact that it is high summer here and the chilled French chardonnay that accompanied the pleasantries was a cool relief from the ambient temperature outside of 26 degrees. We were thinking of the wintry blast that no doubt was blessing the slopes of the Wolds.
