Ruby's Neon Glow

Ruby Birch (OH 2010-15) told us about starting the foundations of her business while studying at Hymers College

While studying at Hymers College, ten years ago, at age 17, I completed a spray tanning course and Ruby Tuesday’s mobile spray tanning was born. I set out in my first car with my pop up tent offering spray tan services alongside my studies. I always knew I wanted my own business but I didn’t know what that might look like or what kind of business it would be.

I left Hymers in 2015 and went on to study Management & Business at The University of Hull. I continued my spray tanning business throughout my studies and alongside my retail job too.

After working a few different jobs and sadly losing my Dad in 2017, that spurred me on to follow my dream and begin Neon Tanning Studios. This July we have just celebrated 2 years since we opened our doors. We’ve built an amazing team, met thousands of customers and we’ve just won an award for Best Tanning Salon in East Yorkshire!
