Life After Hymers |
I attended Hymers from 2004-2014. After leaving school, I embarked on a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.
I soon realised that Pharmacy was not the career path for me and after much deliberation, I decided that I would apply to vet school. In 2017 I graduated with a 2:1 BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Later that Autumn, I began studying at Nottingham Vet school. Changing career paths was by far the best decision I made.
I have had many wonderful experiences during my time at Nottingham. I enjoyed spending a semester abroad in Rennes, France, where I put my AS Level French to good use! Over eight years, I have gained three degrees and have participated in various societies.
This summer, I graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and a Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery. I joined the register of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons at the end of July, allowing me to be a practising vet.
I am really looking forward to starting work as a mixed vet later this summer at Aldgate Veterinary Practice.
I feel very fortunate to have been given so many opportunities whilst I was at Hymers. In particular, I am very grateful to the excellent Biology and Chemistry teachers who taught me for A Level. Their enthusiasm and support helped me to realise my plans to pursue a career in the sciences.
