Life After Hymers |
I graduated with a first class BA (Hons) degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Linguistics. Alongside my degree, I also received the Trinity College London CertTESOL accreditation.
During my time at university as far as extra curricular activities go, I tried to do as much as I could. I learnt beginner Japanese, and played for three years in the women's tennis first team. One of my proudest moments was becoming a published undergraduate at 21 with six co-authors. Our article is called "Precarious Hope: Situated Perspectives on the COVID-19 Pandemic from Undergraduate Students in Manchester, UK."
My most recent accomplishment was when I was nominated for, and won, the "Inclusivity Award" at the Manchester Metropolitan University volunteer awards. The reason why I was nominated is that I spent most of 2022 teaching English to refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and other war-torn countries whilst finishing my final year of university. It was the most incredible experience and I have loved every moment of it. It not only allowed me to make beautiful connections with people who have been through so much, but I also had the opportunity to practice what I had been learning in my degree.
