Life After Hymers |
Ellie Kime studied at Hymers from 2004 until 2014, when she moved to London for University. At King's College, she studied philosophy but unfortunately didn't enjoy it, so initially tried to drop out. However, she stayed and received a 2:1 and also started up a business at the same time.
She is now a self-employed writer, specialising in the wedding industry and small, creative businesses. She also runs a business called The Enthusiast, which encourages people to be more enthusiastic & unapologetically themselves. She does this via content and merchandise, and most recently she created a magazine. Issue 1 was released in October 2021 (funded by a Kickstarter which was fully funded in 16 hours) and Issue 2 is coming out this May.
“There’s nothing better than hearing people talk about the stuff they’re passionate about - so I created a magazine full of it.
Thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that was fully funded in just 16 hours, Issue 1 of VORACIOUS magazine launched in November 2021. The aim is for it to be a biannual publication, celebrating the people who love loving stuff. Simple, hey?
Over 80 pages, it features 25+ contributors across artwork, interviews, articles, recipes, poems and more; all printed on recycled paper, too.

Ellie is still in touch with friends from Hymers College and still has the same best friends that she had at school. She also lives with her boyfriend who she met at school and has found lots of classmates from her year in London.
They say you’re never further than 6 feet from a rat in London, but I think that also applies to Hymerians (not that they’re rats!). I even had the very special honour of leading the wedding ceremony of two of my classmates last August.
Her favourite teacher was Dr Denton (Head of History & Politics) as he was so passionate about his subject and an "excellent" form tutor in the Sixth form.
