Life After Hymers |
Jenny Aitken, like her brothers, cousins and father, attended Hymers College, where she studied languages for her A-Levels. She went on to study French and Spanish at University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
After graduating from university, she moved over to the French Alps to work for Ski Beat as a Resort Manager. After settling in the Alps, she became a freelance translator, with particular experience with sport and tourism. She also works with her brother, Nick Aitken, at Onuba Communications.
Thank you Jenny for speaking to our Language Society. The students thoroughly enjoyed hearing your top tips for learning languages, including working in a ski resort for a season if you can! Also, read a book in the language you are learning but make sure it is interesting to you, it doesn't have to be a classic, it can be your favourite magazine; that way you are more likely to read and understand it!
