Life After Hymers |
Laura left Hymers in 2016 to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham. Throughout her 5 year degree, she learnt how to diagnose, treat and operate on all species of animal.
Laura was drawn to veterinary medicine due to the varied, busy lifestyle that the career creates, she was happy taking on the additional opportunities uni had to offer. This included undertaking placements in Finland and Cyprus, presenting her research in Italy, and carrying out additional research internships.
The course was interesting and a great opportunity to witness how rapidly the profession is growing and also how diverse it is. Fitness has always been a passion of Laura's so in 2019, she set up her own fitness business, LC Fitness which she now balances with her work as a small animal veterinary surgeon in a town in the East Midlands called Ashby de la Zouch.
The job is challenging but extremely rewarding and I look forward to each day at the practice! My favourite aspect of the job is witnessing animals from start to finish of a medication course and seeing the direct effect of our work.
