We were saddened to hear of the passing of Emeritus Professor Francis James West, OH 1938-44. Born in 1927, he passed away in Cambridge on 2 February 2025, at the age of 97 years.
His younger brother Dennis West, OH 1941-48 also attended Hymers College. He sadly passed away in 2017, aged 87 years old.
Francis was a pupil and East Riding Scholar at Hymers from 1938 to 1944. He retired as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) at Deakin University, Victoria, Australia in 1990. He attended reunions in Hull and Cambridge when he could.
