For the second lunch of of 2025, the Development Office arranged for the sun to come out as our guests arrived at the school. With many arriving via the West Drive, they were able to see former students engraved in each of our founding pavers which are now in situ gleaming in the sunlight. 100 % of the sale of each paver is supporting the John Hymers Bursary Fund.
We welcomed back former staff, Chris Fitzpatrick, OH Staff 1980-2016 and Ian Nicholls, OH Staff 1982-2015, who were delighted to see Director of Sport, Steve Walmsley as he popped in between lessons.
We were also joined, from the wider OH Community, by Glenda Greendale, Governor Ambassador and Stephen Martin, Former Chair of Governors. The event was a delightful blend of nostalgia and new beginnings, as old friendships were rekindled and new connections forged. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and lively conversations.
A highlight of the afternoon were the fantastic musical performances from our Senior School students, alongside hearing from our Senior Prefects about the positive and shaping influence that Hymers has had on their lives. Our guests enjoyed reminiscing about their school days and catching up on each other's lives. It is a real pleasure to be responsible for engaging our community.

Feedback:
Many thanks to you and your colleagues for hosting the OH lunch today. I thoroughly enjoyed the event and being able to renew my acquaintance with former students, especially in one case with Peter Wildsmith to whom I have not spoken for over 50 years! I found the Headmaster’s talk as inspirational as ever, and the musical interlude was a joy to hear. Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
Thanks to you all and the students for a very enjoyable luncheon. We had a good time.
Just wanted to say thanks for organising today and making us feel welcome - really enjoyed it.
