Our latest HymersCAN! event of 2025 took place at the end of February and we were delighted to have Ben Mellows, OH 2001-08 and Henry Kilpatrick, OH 2004-11 join us, along with Hymers College parent, Hazel Beasley.
Thank you for supporting the HymersCAN! event and for our speakers for giving up their valuable time and sharing your story with students. Your insights, perspective and advice were key to inspiring our students considering Engineering. Our students appreciated your guidance on the world of work and tips for success. Thank you to all of our speakers for taking the time to talk to the students afterwards and answer their many questions about a career in Engineering.
Henry Kilpatrick,OH 2004-2011
Henry is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer at the Phillips 66 Humber refinery and has been working in the UK oil and gas industry since 2015.
Ben Mellors, OH 2001-2009
Ben is Head of Gas Networks UK at Jacobs. He is a highly motivated, ambitious and passionate engineer with over 12 years engineering experience and over 10 years’ experience in UK Gas transmission and distribution industries, across all pressure tiers, working on numerous nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Hazel Beasley
Hazel is a mechanical engineer and started her career in quality engineering for a manufacturing company supplying the Ministry of Defence with bespoke systems for pipelines. She has a a strong maths background having worked in maths education and on education initiative projects involving data tracking and analytics. She particularly enjoys working on projects through the lifecycle of design, delivery and then tracking results.
