In March, we held our second alumni lunch of 2024 and we were delighted to see our regular guests return to the school.  It is always a pleasure to catch up with some of our older members of the Old Hymerian Community. We were lucky enough to hear from three of our Year 10 students with some musical performances for our guests, who thoroughly enjoyed their singing and piano performances.

As well as the 'usual crowd', we were also joined by Mike Whitaker, OH 1974-81.  His mother was a teacher at Hessle Mount, and his return to Hymers College was the first time in over 40 years.  He enjoyed catching up with former music teacher, Andrew Penny (OH Staff 1977-2022) who also joined us for lunch.

Portia Bailey Barrow, OH 2002-09, returned for her first lunch at the school and was able to catch up with some of her favourite teachers, Mark McTeare and Charlie Gaynor-Smith, as well as having a tour of the school.

Our next lunch at the school is on Wednesday 15th May 2024.  To book a place, or see more upcoming events, please visit www.oldhymerians.com/events.  We look forward to seeing you next time.

Feedback:

Thank you for organising - I had a great time, and it was a pleasure particularly to catch up with Andrew Penny as well as meet the other OH. Definitely aiming to be up in May.

Please compliment from me the young women who performed “My Love, My Life”. I may be old enough to own the original album, but it was nonetheless beautifully done. ABBA remain timeless and I don’t care if it’s not cool to admit to liking them!
