On November 10th, we held our Act of Remembrance at Hymers and held a school service with Old Hymerians from across the country. We were delighted to be able to welcome back OH Commander Geoffrey Teasdale and OH President Will Hairsine to deliver readings.
During the service, we acknowledged and remembered the 208 Hymers students and staff whose lives were lost in conflict, with students standing up in turn as a name was read out. Thank you to all the readers, wreath bearers and musicians who made the Act of Remembrance so powerful. We hope that through our actions we have done justice to the service of those who have gone before us from Hymers College.
During the lunch, David Stark OH 1971-79, shared a letter that his family had received in 1916 from a relative, shortly before he sadly lost his life. The letter provided a fascinating insight into life during World War I.
