Members of the Old Hymerians community returned to the school recently to come together to form the 'Hymers College Chorus' for the March Senior Concert.

The Hymers College Chorus is a choir for all members of the Hymers community, including alumni, parents, teachers, and friends. It is open to anyone who has a love of singing and would like to be involved in concerts and events as part of the College calendar. 

The first event for the Chorus was performing Vivaldi’s Gloria in the Senior Concert in March (2023). The performance involved the Hymers College Chorus combining with the Senior Chamber Choir, Senior Orchestra, and visiting Music staff to sing one of sacred music’s most uplifting choral works.

Head of Music, Charlotte Fong was the Director for the musical piece, with piano teacher, Lester Bartlett playing the organ.

It was a really enjoyable and satisfying experience to come back and sing with the Hymers Chorus. We were a mixture of alumni (both recent and not-so-recent), parents and staff, and it was very special that we were able to combine with the current choir and orchestra, to come together.

We were able to sing and play a work that many of us would not have chance to sing otherwise. A few of who sang together in the same concert decades ago, met up again which was super. It was wonderful to see the strong Hymers music tradition being so capably carried on by the pupils and the first-class staff. We hope the Hymers College chorus will continue and build and that we can contribute to future events.
