The Development Office, along with Headmaster Justin Stanley, held our first event in Cambridge for many years.  We visited All Bar One for a drinks evening on Thursday 16 March (2023). We thoroughly enjoyed meeting with Old Hymerians now living, working, and studying in Cambridge. It was wonderful to see so many faces from different decades at the event.  Our youngest attendee had just left Hymers College last year and our oldest was in his 80s.

We were pleased to see Julian Ray arrive sporting his Old Hymerian rugby top that his wife had bought him for Christmas, along with the bobble hat and scarf.  We made sure he left with an Old Hymerian bag to present to his wife when he arrived home.

From the evening, we received many offers of support to our current students - thank you. We hope to see some of the faces from the evening giving advice and talks at career events or co-curricular club discussions in the future.

Vikki from the Development Office was especially pleased to see former classmate, David Binns (OH 1988-96).  Vikki and David often used to sit next to each other, due to the alphabetical seating order in classes, but had not seen each other since they left Hymers College.  David went on to study at Cambridge, where he remains with his family, working as a software engineer.

Thank you again for the fun evening yesterday!! We all felt loved and grateful to be part of Hymers.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  Nice to meet up with the OHs from the area and to meet David Gosling again who I hadn’t seen for many decades.

Keep up the good work and I plan to attend some events in the year in Hull, so see you on those occasions.

Emily, thank you so much for the Cambridge evening. Made a couple of new friends there.

Thank you for organising the social last week I enjoyed it much more than I expected!
