At the beginning of September, the school held our first alumni event in nearly 2 years, welcoming 175 alumni on a September sunny evening for our annual Old Hymerian Dinner.
It was a pleasure to see the Main Hall with such a warm and vibrant atmosphere including past teachers, a past Headmaster, thank you Mr Morris, and students attending from aged 20- 80! The evening celebrated our links with the NHS in medicine and the alumni that have gone on to work in this field. We celebrated the lives of lost masters from the school with a minute applause to those whom have shaped many of our past students’ lives and career paths to date.
The evening was opened with a welcome from Emily Pennack, Development Manager and current OH President, and the official launch of "The John Hymers Bursary Fund" highlighting the School’s vision for continuing to champion social mobility for bright children of Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire regardless of background.
Amitava Banerjee (Class of 1996), Professor of Clinical Data Science at University College London was our guest speaker and was put in the hot seat with a series of questions around his time at Hymers and his career path since. Old Hymerian Rob Vickerman, BBC Broadcaster hosted a successful evening.
