Old Hymerians Community Christmas Card Exchange 

We would like to continue this project to prevent to help combat loneliness at Christmas but we need your help to spread some Christmas cheer within our OH community. We’d love as many Old Hymerians and former staff to take part in this exchange.  

What is it? 

The Christmas Card Exchange is where members of the Old Hymerians community can celebrate the festive season with each other by exchanging cards with their memories, both of school and sharing details of their life. 

How does it work? 

Alumni sign up to send a Christmas card (maybe you can send more than one so we can send to those who we know may not necessarily sign up to the event but would still appreciate a card) and in return, you’ll receive a card back with the memories of another Old Hymerian. You can send your card to the school and then we will take care of onward transmission. Whether you wish to include your contact details (either postal address or email) is entirely up to you; please do not include these within the letter if you are not happy to share.

Of further note, it is likely that you won't be sending to anyone from your own year. 

Guidelines: 

By signing up, you will agree to: 

Send a Christmas card (or more than one should you really enjoy spreading the Christmas cheer) to a member of the OH community.

Send your cards to us at The Development Office, Hymers College, Hymers Avenue, Hull, HU3 1LW by the deadline (8 December 2023) so that no one misses out.

The Development Office will forward you letter on to another member of the OH community who has also signed up to the event, or those who we know would appreciate a card this Christmas.

Please take part in the spirit it is intended; to share memories about your life, your school and make someone smile! 

Have fun! We encourage you to include OH traditions, stories and your favourite memories so that the recipient will get a better understanding of what your life was like.

You may wish to send a card and write your memories on some paper included within - either handwritten or typed on a computer, whichever is your preference.

For safety, the exchange is ONLY open to Old Hymerians and former staff from the online community who have a record on our database. Address details are never shared at any time without permission.
